How to Measure Attic Ladder Ceiling Height

You can watch a video or read this short article about how to measure the ceiling height for an attic ladder.

Most attic ladder’s floor to ceiling distance is determined from where the door panel is measured, down to the floor at maximum height.

First take a tape measure and measure the ceiling down to the floor at the point where you expect the stairway will touch the floor.

If your floor to ceiling distance is less than the maximum height of the desired stairway, you can trim the stairway down to the proper level. But first, please refer to the attic stairway installation instructions to do this.

If the distance is greater than the desired stairway that is recommended than you will need to make another selection. The maximum ceiling height that Century Industries can accommodate is 12 feet.
